The Melissa Hitmaker, Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale (A.K.A African Dancehall King) from the start of his music career is currently the most awarded musician among his colleagues in Ghana and Africa as a whole. I have seen some situations where some bloggers label Nigerian’s very own David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid or Innocent Ujah Idibia, known by his stage name 2Baba as the most awarded musicians in Africa, but the fact is those three mentioned above barely has more than 60 awards. Tanzanian Superstar, Nasibu Abdul Juma, popularly known by his stage name Diamond Platnumz even has more awards than Nigerian’s 2baba, Davido and Wizkid.
Ghana’s very own rapper and winner of the current BET best international flow, Michael Owusu Addo, known professionally as Sarkodie, on the other hand is currently the second on the list of most awarded artists in Africa and Ghana with 85 awards.
